Just found out this venue is under threat from new neighbours who apparently don't like the noise! It's obviously an important live venue and especially to bands like The Reasoning. there's a petition here

which you can sign.

You don't have to donate anything to the petition website on the screen after signing - just shut it down.

Yeah, well done for posting about this here, Grae - I saw it mentioned on the Magenta forum and have duly signed the petition. Come on folks, we can't let them close down The Point! Evil or Very Mad

I went down there with Big Dave on Friday and signed the petition then. I also signed the on-line one. I have known about this for a while, but The Point were unsure what was going to happen. It really pisses me off. Surely the stupid cow would have checked out the area before she moved there? The guys are expecting a fine and they are making moves to sound proof it all properly, but why the hell it got to this stage in the first place, god only know - F**king stupid!!! Evil or Very Mad

Beggars belief Matthew. So, due to someone elses utter stupidity and lack of research or more likely a change of heart.
A bloody good venue and a source of entertainment for thousands is under threat. If the local council officials ,or if it gets that far, the courts have any sense they will tell this silly sod to go away in short sharp jerky movements!!

Yeah, absolutely. The one glimmer of hope on the horizon is that apparently (according to someone on the Marillion forum) something similar happened to another club/venue elsewhere lately: someone who had recently moved close to the club made a complaint, only to see it thrown out because the club had been there much longer and the onus was therefore on its new neighbour. Basically they (rightly) expected the dude to have taken account of the fact he was moving close to a noisy club, and if it was disturbing him then it was up to him to soundproof or make any changes necessary for them to peacefully co-exist. Otherwise, if everyone who lived near a venue decided to take umbrage, then they'd all be closed down, and where would we be then? We'd all have to make the trip up to Comet Towers and sit in Matt & Rach's garden to see The Reasoning! Wink

I dunno, it just annoys me, iz all. 'The Man' is alive and well, it seems! Confused Fingers crossed for The Point and all who sail in her!

Well said Dave! The Point will survive for sure but as already stated, it is just bloody stupid that it got to this stage in the first place. When will people stop imposing their narrow minded and selfish opinions on others Question Evil or Very Mad
